Psychotherapy (often called therapy) ranges from short-term (approx.12 sessions) to long-term. Psychotherapy typically helps address significant stressors, psychological/psychiatric disorders, interpersonal problems, character change. You will meet with a mental health professional to to discuss the difficulties you are having as well as, your goals for what you would like to have change. Psychotherapy typically involves support, psychoeducation, reflection, and psychological intervention aimed at addressing the problems or psychological pain you are experiencing.

Psychological assessment and testing typically begins with a referral question from another provider or yourself. You and a psychologist will meet to better understand your problem and develop goals for your assessment. Typically psychological assessments take between 1 and 5 sessions that last anywhere between 1 and 4 hours each session. Psychological assessments are often used to help with diagnostic clarity and recommendations, understanding your behavior better, or even helping to address and resolve impasses in psychotherapy. Magnolia clinicians are able to conduct a wide range of psychological assessments including for ADHD, personality disorders, clinical assessments, etc.

Welcome to Magnolia. We are a small but growing practice of dedicated psychologists. We offer services in person to the Greater Lansing area of Michigan and virtual appointments throughout the state of Michigan. Several of our providers participate in PSYPACT and are able to provide virtual appointments in 43 other States.
Our practice considers the best available research, clinical judgement, and your culture, preferences, and values when determining how to be most helpful to you.
